Do you want a really awesome party, but don't have enough money to register BOE? You're in luck. All you have to do is make a new scenario, with a 1 x 1 outdoor grid, and 1 medium town. Make sure you include a starter town.

Edit the terrain of Warrior's Grove, and scroll to the upper left until you get the the Training Arena. There shoud be a sign between two gates marking it.

Choose the Create/Edit Special button and click next to the person that is in the arena. Make a string of specials that give experience and skill points to the party. Unfortunatly, you can only have 100 skill points maximum.

Next, save the scenario. Open up the folder where you saved it and move it into the Blades of Exile Scenarios folder. Rename valleydy.exs to valley.exs and rename your scenario to valleydy.exs.

Open Blades of Exile, and make a new party. Start the scenario by clicking on Start a New Scenario and then on Valley of Dying Things. Use combat mode in order to move around the town until you get to the training arena. Once you run out skill points, walk over the special encounter a few times to get them back. Make sure you check the No Sounds button in the preferences dialog because it makes the whole process much faster.

Now you should have a killer party! Walk over the end scenario special encounter, which is marked by a sign, restore the real valleydy.exs, and have fun saving the land!

How to find the X and Y location of a space:

In the scenario editor, it is kind of hard to find the exact location of a space. This is needed when you are placing boats or horses, and in special encounters.

All you need to do to figure it out is to place any item on that tile. Then edit the item. It will tell you the exact location! Then you should delete the "dummy" item.

Having Trouble destroying a group monsters? Kill a few go out of town and rest! Go back in and destroy more.

Note: All other Damaged monsters heal themselves when you leave town. Killed ones never reappear.

Locating the X and Y

Another way that I use to find X and Y is just use the '5' key on the keypad. Try to guess the center tile and choose it. Hit the '5' key once to erase the spot, which is the (x,y) shown. Then '5' again to return to the tile to the selected tile.

Stealing

It doesn't hurt to steal if no one's looking! I find some people put valuable objects in their scenarios and figure no one will touch them because they're "someone's property." Close all the doors around you and make sure no one else is in the room, then take whatever you want. I also found that webs can be useful to "hide" yourself from nearby people. Just cast the web spell on the person, and they won't get mad, and they won't see you either.

--Jeremy Larson

note: You can also use the "force barrier" spell to make it safe to steal an item. For scenario designers, just put a special node that makes the town angry when they open a chest or something.

Scenario Plot

It is a lot easier to make a scenario if you plan it out first. Draw towns, write down dialoge, etc.

Useful Walls

In battles the enemies are grouped together so it is easy to use 2 walls (wall of force works well) in a V shape to keep them in the bottom of the V. It works better if you have three mages and instead make a straight-lined U shape. The most monsters go for you but won't go through the wall very far. You can just conflagration or fireball them to death. If they are resistant or immune to fire you could just keep putting walls on them and kill'em off.
Note: YOU HAVE TO PUT THE WALL AROUND THE ENEMIES. IT DOESN'T WORK IF YOU PUT THE WALLS ANYWHERE BUT BETWEEN YOU AND THEM.

Killing Doomguards the easy way

An easy way to kill a Doomguard with a level-1 party: Firstly, this works a lot better if your entire party has at least level-2 priest and you have at least 2 PCs with level-2 mage spells. Also, it only works when the Doomguard is up against a wall.

Cast a Conflagration spell, centered one space away from the Doomguard in the opposite direction to the wall. Then, summon a beast next to the Doomguard so it won't attack you. Wear it down with Wound spells - the fire field prevents it from splitting. Recast Conflagration and Summon Beast every round. This was a real help when I found a Doomguard in the mayor's home in Nephil's Gambit, and it may be useful in other scenarios too.

Killing Monsters the 'easy way'

One way I found that helps kill monsters is to go into combat mode, and then use the first three guys to hit the monster. Then use the other guys to exit out of combat mode, and then go back into combat mode again. This saves you from being hit in combat mode.

Another way, is if there are mages, to kill them first, this will always help.

Get more than 20 strength, intelligence, or dexterty

It is possible to get 22 strength, 22 dexterty, or 21 intelligence, but only one of them. If you want 22 strength, make a new character from scratch while in a scenerio, choose slith for race, and anything else you want, when the training window pops up where you spend your skill points, give the character 20 strength, you will have 3 skill points left to spend on anything else. Finish creating the character, and click on the question mark beside that character's name, you will notice that the character has 22 stength. Use the character editor to bring up other stats to a reasonable level. 21 intelligence is accomplished in a very similiar way, make a new character from scratch while in a scenerio, and give it 20 intelligence. For dexterty, make a new character from scratch while in a scenerio, and give it 20 dexterty.

Archery Tactic

One thing I noticed recently was that if you are a long distance from your target, it is still possible to have close range accuracy if you line up with your target. This is especially helpful when attempting to assasinate a mage with an archer.
