The Unknown Hour
Mission Statement
Matthew 24:44: You also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect
But, also: "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord"
The ministry of the Unknown Hour reaches far beyond its namesake. Indeed, we are here to tell people about the Lord so they may be ready for his coming. But it is not the coming of the Lord alone that we are here for. It is to praise and glorify Him each and every day that we are here on earth, as pilgrims and visitors in a strange land.
The Lord gave us breath, and the Lord gave us each a talent. That talent can only be fully expressed through use to glorify the One who gave it and all gifts. Our ministry is first and foremost an offering of praise and thanksgiving to our Lord Jesus Christ, who suffered and died that we may live.
It is also a ministry to those in the darkness. We tell of his death and resurrection, and that He is coming back to claim those who believe on His name. Our songs testify to the love and peace and joy only He can offer. We pray that those who hear our music will be blessed not only by the melodies God has given us, but more importantly by the words He has given us. We pray that we will be the scent of life, as it says in the Bible, to those who are being saved.
Finally, the ministry of the Unknown Hour is a ministry to our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are a ministry of encouragement, exhortation, and love to those God has placed around us in His family.
The Unknown Hour is Tommy Norman, Aubrey Rice, Cyndy Steck, Susan VandenBout, and Scott Seyfried. We each have a story to tell. We each are works in progress, testimonies of how the Lord called us out of the darkness, out of our wretchedness, and justified us and made us righteous and holy in His eyes, by the blood of His pure and spotless lamb, Jesus Christ.
The Unknown Hour is a many-faceted band, and our musical style ranges from folk to darn-near-heavy metal. Alternative and blues are our focus, and we incorporate some praise and worship, covers, and originals into all our sets. We do not consider ourselves simply a performance band, but a vessel created by the Master for His glory.
