What is SiteMouse.com?
SiteMouse is a web site created by Blumenthal's designed to make it possible for almost anyone to create and maintain their own web site quickly & easily at no cost. In addition, SiteMouse can provide free e-mail.

Is it Free for Everyone?
For approval of a new account, we require that you, your organization or business be within 75 miles of Olean, NY or Bradford, PA. We also require that the application be fully filled out with verifiable information. If you reside outside of the 75 mile area and feel that you still qualify for a SiteMouse account, please indicate the reason in the "How did you hear about" Section of the application. Note that we will reject any application that does not comply with these requirements.

How do I get started?
Simply click HERE to sign up for the service. Your password, which you can change later, will be e-mailed to you immediately.

How does SiteMouse differ from other free, "build your own" web sites like tripod, Yahoo, AOL, or GeoCities?
The web you create with SiteMouse will have absolutely NO ADVERTISING. This is very important, especially if you have a small business.

How much space will be allocated to me on SiteMouse?
3mb of space is allocated for your website, an additional 3mb of space will be allocated for e-mail. This totals 6mb of space. If your graphics are created properly, a 3mb site is enough space for 40 or 50 pages of content with pictures and graphics (maybe more).

Can I add my own graphics, links, and other features?
Absolutely! MouseTool allows you to upload many types of files to your site and, with a little work, you can create a professional looking site that will be as functional as any on the Internet!

What if I'm a beginner and have no idea how to upload files, or make links, etc.??
SiteMouse has pre-loaded templates site to help you get started. Start with a template, fill in some of your own information, and you have a good start!

What if I need more space?
10mb of additional space is available for $7/mo.,but for only $19/mo., you can have your own domain name (www.yourcompany.com), 50mb. of space, AND SiteMouse to continue to maintain your site.

Will the web site that I build with SiteMouse be available full-time on the Internet?
Absolutely! Not only is your site available, but it will be hosted on our high-speed servers which are DIRECTLY on the Internet Backbone!

What is the address (URL) of my new website?
Your web site will have an address that looks like this: http://sitemouse.com/users/yourname

What would my e-mail address look like, and why would I need another e-mail address, since I already have one?
Your e-mail address would be yourname@sitemouse.com. You can use your SiteMouse mail account to retrieve mail from other POP mail accounts on the Internet. This way, you could "consolidate" your mail at SiteMouse. Make it the ONLY place you have to check for mail. Also, since you may change your ISP (Internet Service Provider) once in a while, you might want to have an e-mail address that never changes.

What happens after I work on my site & then want to upgrade to my own domain name (mycompany.com), is all my work wasted??
Not at all, it is a simple process to convert your SiteMouse web site to your own domain on our servers. We will help you get your domain name registered, and since SiteMouse is already on our servers, your new site ($19/mo. plus a one-time $39 setup fee) will be available with no interruption of service. You can continue using MouseTool to maintain your site at no additional cost.

Why is Blumenthal's providing SiteMouse free?
Blumenthal's is a provider of world-class hosting and web design services. We hope that SiteMouse users will eventually want to upgrade to a unique "domain name" and will host that domain on our servers. By providing users with an easy way to get started, and an inexpensive alternative to high hosting & site design fees, we hope we can make that first impression a good one!

What is MouseTool?
Mouse Tool is the program you will use to create and maintain your web site. It is easy to use, and features pre-designed templates for a professional look. When you log into SiteMouse.com with your user name and password, you will be able to modify your site using MouseTool. MouseTool comes with its own Tutorial for step-by-step instructions. What is MouseMail?
MouseMail helps you administer your e-mail account at SiteMouse. With MouseMail, you can check your mail, send mail (even attachments), organize your correspondence and more.

Will I be able to keep my web site and SiteMouse e-mail on SiteMouse forever??
As long as you continue to have a use for your site, it will be allowed to stay. Because of the expense involved with hosting many sites, we will periodically purge sites that are no longer being used. You will be notified 30 days in advance of this and, simply by responding to our e-mail and stating that you still want your site, your site will remain active.

What if I have problems or need help?
SiteMouse is very easy to use, but support in the form of on-line help is provided to familiarize you with the MouseTool and MouseMail software. In addition, we provide a Technical Support Message Board, moderated by the Webmouster so users can help each other. Help is also available by contacting our Webmouster at support@sitemouse.com. Blumenthal's also offers one-on-one 2 hour training classes for $99 and additional support at our standard support contract rates.
